Ingenious! Featured for astronomy

Marsh’s Library is featured in Ingenious Ireland as one of the ‘top 10 astronomy places’.

The new interactive map on Ingenious Ireland uses an image from a manuscript astronomical tract in Irish, written around the fourteenth century and containing a text translated from a Latin version of an Arabic text by a Jewish astronomer. We’ve included photographic reproductions of this text in our new exhibition ‘Marvels of Science’. For conservation reasons, we can’t leave the manuscript on exhibition. But we hope to get a digital version of it online very soon… watch this space!
