Marsh’s Library is located on St Patrick’s Close, just beside St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. Most Dublin tours pass right by our door, and we are only a 10 or 15 minute stroll from Grafton Street.
The library is normally open to the public every day except Tuesday and Sunday.
Our normal weekday opening hours (except Tuesday) are: 9:30 am to 5.00 pm.
Saturdays: 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Closed Tuesdays, Sundays and bank holidays, and at Christmas and New Year.
Notice of any other closures will be posted on this website and our social media.
The Reading Room for scholars and students is open by appointment only on Tuesdays between 9.30am and 1pm. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays it is open from 9.30am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm. Please see here for more information.
Marsh’s Library welcomes visitors of all ages and backgrounds. Visitors are asked to pay an entrance fee of €3, with €2 for students and senior citizens. There is no charge for children under 16. Those on Jobseeker’s Allowance or Benefit are admitted free. We welcome groups of all varieties: for details please see here.
