Access to the building

The Library is accessed by steps from the front gate, and stairs from the front door to the public galleries.

Please be aware that due to the nature of the historic building the public galleries of the Library are not accessible to wheelchairs. We will always assist with lifting buggies or prams up the steps and stairs, if you ring the library on (01) 4543511. Children are always very welcome in the Library.

We can provide access to the ground floor facilities, the shop and the garden on request via the back entrance.

The reading room is on the ground floor and access can be provided on request. A wheelchair accessible toilet is provided on the ground floor.

Access to the website

Marshlibrary.ie is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to parts  of the available standards and guidelines.

The following are some of the things that we have implemented to support accessibility:

  • Fully responsive website
  • Content is accessed through a keyboard in an accessible way
  • Naming of images
  • Heading styles are used correctly to organise the structure of the content
  • Implemented a content management system that supports accessibility
  • Using colour with care
  • Forms designed for accessibility

The following are some shortfalls we will work on to improve:

Not all images have alt attributes

The website is not fully conformant to WCAG 2.1
