Alan Early Returns for World Book Day

We were happy to see the return of Alan Early, author of the children’s trilogy of books Father of Lies Chronicles for World Book Day Thursday 5th March 2015.

He originally popped into the library back in 2012 when his first book, Arthur Quinn and the World Serpent was the chosen book for Dublin City Libraries and Dublin UNESCO City of Literature’s first ever Children’s Citywide Reading Project.  We ran a competition with our local schools to design and draw their own versions of the World Serpent and he came a long to take a look at the entries.

This time he worked with two groups of children from the St. Patrick’s Choir School and Synge Street CBS.  The students got to hear him read a scary part of his first book, Arthur Quinn and the World Serpent, play a ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ type quiz, create a whole class Viking God via a Facebook profile and can ask him lots of questions on what it is like to be an author.

Overall a great morning of listening and interaction…I think Alan has sparked the imagination of a few new young writers and he may find a few more of his books are sold over the weekend!
