Jean Claude, Reponse au livre de Monsieur l’Evesque de Meaux (Charenton, 1683) was not mentioned in the library's contemporary account of damaged books. It may only have been noticed later.
Buried deep inside the volume, as if nested among the words, is a fragment of a bullet. It has been flattened by its travels.
