Shevet Yehudah was written by Solomon ibn Verga (b. 1460), a Jewish historian and physician from Spain. Verga witnessed first-hand the persecution of Jews in Spain and Portugal, and so wrote Shevet Yehudah as a history of the persecution of Jews in various times and places throughout history, offering 64 different accounts. First printed in Turkey, this edition was printed in Amsterdam in 1655.
