Taylor and Skinner's Maps of the Roads Of Ireland (Dublin & London, 1778).

This highly successful publication included the distances between towns and villages. It also described the human settlements and physical features that travellers would encounter on their journeys.

The demand for road maps increased during the second half of the 18th century as communications and infrastructure improved.
