Plan of Newry in 1587, hand-drawn

A very early example of a town map in Ireland. The main walled town is shown with bastions, cabins, churches, houses, gatehouses, and orchards. The physical geography of the surrounding landscape is also included.

Based on an original manuscript by Robert Lythe held at the UK National Archives.
