James Joyce Writing Competition Awards

Young Dublin writers were invited to attend a presentation yesterday from our 200 entrants for the James Joyce writing competition.

Many thanks go to the schools which took part including: Dominican Convent Primary School, Dun Laoghaire, St Columba’s, North Strand, St. Columba’s, Iona Road, Rathmines E.T.N.S and St. Patrick’s Choir School.

Pictured are the 7 shortlisted writers with Dr Anne Marie Darcy, University of Leicester, who co-curated our James Joyce exhibition in 2014 and provided the funding for the competition.

The runners up were given a €25 book voucher and the winning writer who wrote Dublin Morning  received a €50 book voucher with a €200 book voucher for their school library.

Many thanks also go to Majella McAllister, from the Museum of Childhood Project and Matt Fogarty of Maynooth University English Department for their school visits to inspire the students in their writing and being part of the judging team.

The children will now go on to record their stories for radio broadcast.  We will let you know how they get on!
