Launch of ‘Once upon a Place’, 19 October 2015

Who’s that exploring the books and bays of Marsh’s Library? Eoin Colfer and P.J. Lynch pay us a visit.

Who’s that exploring the books and bays of Marsh’s Library? Why, it’s none other than Eoin Colfer, Laureate na nÓg and author of the bestselling Artemis Fowl series, and award-winning artist and picture book illustrator P.J. Lynch.

They were accompanied by children from North Dublin Muslim National School, Cabra, to mark the publication of the exciting new children’s book, Once upon a Place. What fun!

Once upon a Place is a book of new stories and poems for children that focuses on the special link between story and place in Ireland.

This unique collection was compiled by Eoin Colfer, and is illustrated with exquisite black-and-white charcoal illustrations by P.J. Lynch.

We’ve had a sneak peek at the book, and it’s a truly beautiful object. Among its many delights, we found new stories by Roddy Doyle, Derek Landy and former Laureate na nÓg Siobhán Parkinson – it’s very hard to choose a favourite!

Pick them up while you can – we suspect that these books will fly from the bookshops. We’re told that the book is especially suitable for children between 9 and 12 years old. As for the lucky readers at Marsh’s? Well, we fell in love with the book. We think that it might be suitable for quite a few grown-ups, too!

With thanks to Children’s Books Ireland, and our marvellous visitors from North Dublin Muslim National School, Cabra.
