Planetary Quiz

Marsh’s Library has a wealth of books on the early discoveries of our solar system and beyond. This is largely due to our founder, Narcissus Marsh, who had a life long passion for astronomy and collected many books on the subject.
In 2019 we held a Planetary Quiz for primary schools. We are sharing our files with you here, including bite-size information fact files on the planets (and a dwarf planet) in our solar system.
(A teacher’s guide with further activities can be found at the bottom of this page)
To start, if you don’t know the order of the planets from Mercury (closest to the Sun) to Neptune, or know a mnemonic (memory aid) to remember it, have a go at creating a nonsense sentence now (e.g. My Very English Mother… Many Vegetarians Eat Mango…) the sillier the better!

Read the facts and try to remember as much as you can. You will find a Planetary Quiz below to test your memory!
