Exhibition Launch: Scary (and Hairy!) Tales from Marsh’s Library

On 9 July, the Library hosted the launch of an exhibition of prints by John Rooney, a talented young illustrator who has been working with Marsh’s Library since 2014.

Children are important to the library and we aim to make it a welcoming place for them. Their appreciation of the more gruesome parts of the library’s history has inspired Scary (and Hairy!) Tales from Marsh’s Library, a comic-book style guide to the library for younger people – which is appreciated by the grown-ups as well!

The exhibition, which runs until the end of December, showcases John’s amazing images from the guide at a larger size. Prints are available to purchase from the Library – perfect for a spooky corner in your dungeon of choice.

As a special treat, we opened our cages for the night, and some eager (and brave!) volunteers were placed under lock and key. As far as we know, we remembered to release them later. We’d better go upstairs and check again…

Suspicious characters

Stalwart adventurers are invited to read the comic online. Physical copies cost a mere €2, and we’re delighted to provide free comics to teachers or anyone bringing groups of children to the Library. Just watch out for rogue ghosts!
