Sketching Week 9th-13th May for Bealtaine Festival 2016

Our current exhibition, ‘1916 Tales from the Other Side’

View of the Wired Alcoves ('cages') of Marsh's Library

concludes with two sketches of the interior of Marsh’s Library, drawn by Irish artist & revolutionary Estella Solomons in 1923.

As part of the Bealtaine Festival this year, we would like to invite retired, budding and amateur artists of all abilities to come and sketch an aspect of the library’s interior roughly 100 years on.

We hope that the historic atmosphere of the galleries and old reading room will inspire you to produce personal masterpieces!  Please be prepared however to have many of our visitors looking over your shoulder and admiring your work.

We will provide the building (free entry) – and a chair.  All you need is your equipment (NB only pencils and dry media please).

We would be very grateful if you could contact us in advance to give us some indication of when you would like to come, we can then ensure there are not too many fellow artists vying for the best viewpoints at one time.

Please contact Julie Burke (julie.burke@marshlibrary.ie) or Oisin Marsh (oisin.marsh@marshlibrary.ie) via email or call us (01) 4543511.

Our opening times during that week are as follows:
