Our new exhibition
See the many elephants found in our books!
Elephants were a common sight in travel books, maps and atlases from the 16th and 17th century.
‘The Wild Elephants of Dublin 8’ explores how elephants evolved from fanciful creatures few Europeans had seen in the 16th century, to one of the most beloved animals of the 21st.
We are open to visitors Tuesday to Friday 9.30am-5pm and Saturday 10-5pm, no booking necessary.
The exhibition is generously supported by the Regional Museums Exhibition Scheme of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
