Visit of the Archbishop of Canterbury
We were happy to welcome the Archbishop of Canterbury to Marsh’s
on Friday 3 October 2014 during his private visit to Dublin.
The Most Revd Dr Michael Jackson, Archbishop of Dublin, who is chair of the Governors and Guardians of Marsh’s, accompanied the party and introduced the Keeper, Dr Jason McElligott, who showed the Archbishop of Canterbury and Mrs Welby a number of items of interest including one of the books damaged by machine-gun fire during the 1916 Rising.
The Very Revd Victor Stacey, Dean of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, who is also ex officio a Governor of the library, also accompanied the group of visitors, as did the Precentor of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Canon Robert Reed.
Photographs kindly provided by Lynn Glanville, Diocesan Communications Officer for Dublin and Glendalough.
